October morning, cool and bright,
The rooftops catch the slanting light;
A kettle sings, the toast turns brown,
And early trains run into town.
The leaves collect beside the wall,
A cyclist passes, pigeons call;
The day begins without a fuss—
Just autumn quietly finding us.
