Handwritten poem signed G. G. Cooling. Transcribed from a photograph of the original on lined paper; spelling and grammar as written.
May 5th 1933.
Many years we lived together
Years that's sped so swiftly by
We have shared each others sorrow
Is it meet that one should die.
────────
For we've loved each other dearly
Each our part have bravely done
And our children loved their parents
Now I'm left the only one.
────────
Day and nights her wants we heeded
Patiently she bore her pain
And our Saviour (Jesus) took her
Life immortal is her gain.
