The strongest weekday-heavy window appears to be Monday 30 November to Friday 4 December 2026. By then Colmar, Strasbourg, Eguisheim and Riquewihr are all open; Bergheim is open Wednesday–Friday; and Kaysersberg opens on Friday 4 December. This captures a good variety while largely avoiding weekend crowds. Ribeauvillé's medieval market would be missed because it only runs on 5–6 and 12–13 December.
A second strong window is Monday 7 to Friday 11 December. Colmar, Strasbourg, Eguisheim and Riquewihr are open throughout, and Kaysersberg and the Neuf-Brisach market become available on Friday 11 December. Again, Ribeauvillé is weekend-only.
If seeing the most distinctive limited-date markets matters more than avoiding weekends, a seven-night trip spanning 7–14 December would allow a weekend visit to Ribeauvillé and Kaysersberg as well as quieter weekday visits to Colmar, Strasbourg, Riquewihr and Eguisheim.
Basel/Mulhouse remains the natural airport for Colmar. easyJet currently advertises Bristol–Basel fares from £28.99 one way in November and £48.99 in December; Basel–Bristol minima shown are £24.48 in November and £50.94 in December. These are indicative low-fare-finder prices rather than quotations for a specific booking. The route operates directly on Mondays and Fridays in the timetable evidence found, which fits a Monday–Friday market trip particularly neatly.
Current third-party search evidence shows a direct Bristol→Basel flight on Monday 7 December at 10:55–13:35 for about £71 one way. Exact prices for 30 November / 4 December still need checking directly before booking.
There are also direct Bristol–Zürich flights in the winter schedule, including Monday/Friday combinations, so an open-jaw trip (for example Zürich in, Basel out) is worth pricing if Zürich itself is wanted. For a trip primarily about Alsace, Basel is geographically much simpler.
For a longer stay, add Eguisheim, Sélestat, Munster and Basel itself rather than trying to make every day a major market. If the trip includes Saturday/Sunday 5–6 or 12–13 December, prioritise Ribeauvillé on the weekend because that medieval market cannot be visited on a weekday.

The 2026 Christmas-shuttle timetable changes the weekday/weekend calculation. Eguisheim is easy from Colmar every day from 27 November to 20 December, including Monday–Thursday at €8/day. By contrast, the special Colmar–Kaysersberg–Riquewihr–Ribeauvillé loops run only Friday–Sunday (€17/day). Riquewihr/Ribeauvillé do also have regular bus line 16, so they are not impossible on weekdays, but Friday/weekend gives much simpler market-hopping. This argues for either (a) Colmar/Eguisheim-heavy weekdays plus a Friday village day, (b) actually staying in Riquewihr for part of the trip, or (c) using Sélestat as a cheaper rail base and hiring a car briefly for the village leg.
For value and lower crowds, first investigate Monday 30 November–Friday 4 December. Compare it with 7–11 December and with a seven-night option that includes one of the Ribeauvillé weekends. Exact-date pricing for flights, apartments/hotels and any short car hire is the next major variable.
